Impressive Photos for Effective Marketing Materials
Impressive Photos for Effective Marketing Materials
I won't run by every single marketing collateral being used these days. That would honestly be too much work. I'll just delve on these two items in front of me: a bunch of restaurant menus and product brochures.
It doesn't require a Ph.D. for someone to tell a good-looking brochure or menu from one that isn't. What's the first thing I see? The pictures used.
Of course there's your typical elements like the paper used, font style and size and color, layout and etc. But its the pictures I think that can pull it off.
Personally, I see a menu with badly taken pictures, it's hard for me to visualize or imagine if the food they'll be serving is good or not. I see a jewelry brochure for instance, and the pictures are dark and of very poor quality. So instantly, I'd get the impression that these jewelers aren't really on top of their products, probably more so, their business.
On the other hand, I see a menu with sharp and vibrant, life-like pictures, I start feeling my stomach rumble and I think twice about finishing this posting and run for a bite at this restaurant instead. Or I see a diamond brochure with sharp images with the perfect brightness to flaunt the brilliance of the stone and I find myself looking at my bare wrists where a nice diamond bracelet could be.
I look at the washed-out images of the other menus and brochures and I have to wonder: how much is a digital camera these days? With enough lighting and the right angle, anybody can take a sharp image without even employing the services of a photographer. So what are these people doing? Of course they can't blame the menu or brochure printing company. The images aren't their responsibility anymore.
So anyway, I've been drooling for almost an hour now over this image of a really appetizing and exquisite-looking Italian dish. I tell you, the image could've been a cut-up hole to the real thing itself. Got to run now!
